About SACIF

  • Founded: December 2019, Burnaby, BC, Canada

  • Purpose: Supporting underprivileged children with education and school attendance in Canada and abroad

  • Leadership: Entirely volunteer-run — no board members receive compensation

Founder Behrouz Najjarian stepped down in November 2024 due to health and personal reasons.

  • Backpack Buddies (Vancouver) – Regular contributions

  • World Orphanage Foundation (WOF) – Child sponsorships in Tanzania

  • First Call BC – New partner in 2024

  • AFRA Charity (Calgary) – MOU signed

  • The Power of Play (Vancouver) – MOU signed

  • Actively meeting with CRA-registered nonprofits in Vancouver & Calgary for future partnerships

 

Events in 2024

1. Nowruz Market Booth – March 9
  • Held during spring equinox celebrations

  • SACIF sold traditional Haft-Seen boxes and artful dĂ©cor at low prices to raise funds

  • 500+ visitors, including Coquitlam MLA Fin Donnelly and Mayor Richard Stewart

2. Music & Culture Night – October 5
  • First live event post-COVID at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, North Vancouver

  • Featured Iranian music by Nonavazan Orchestra, piano & clarinet duet by Reza and Abtin Kianyan, and dance by Asal Ahadi

  • Speeches by SACIF Chairman, WOF Founder, PALS Autism School, Kimia Social Arts, and Women’s Association of Yaran

  • Children actively participated by helping with refreshments and awareness

3. Hike for Child – November 24
  • Held in West Vancouver to honor World Children’s Day

  • 60+ volunteers, $7,500 raised, and strong media coverage

  • Kids’ painting workshop and high community engagement

Looking Ahead: 2025 Initiatives

  • Continued Support: Ongoing aid to First Call BC and WOF programs

  • Grants & Outreach: Actively engaging Vancouver Foundation and city authorities

  • International Expansion: Exploring SACIF offices in Iran and Africa

  • Youth Engagement: More events like musical programs, Nowruz, and Yalda featuring student involvement

  • Media Presence: Expanding outreach through radio, magazines, and TV

  • New Collaborations: Ongoing discussions with CRA-registered nonprofits

  • Global Sponsorships: WOF to showcase more children from Africa and India on SACIF’s website for potential sponsors
